Don’t Use Apple Cider Vinegar If You Have Any Of These Conditions
Apple cider vinegar is known for its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It can be used in the treatment of allergies, colds, acid reflux, weight loss and it can even help you to whiten your teeth.
Although this powerful ingredient can do wonders for your health if you do not use it carefully it can be very harmful.
In other words, using ACV in combination with certain medications or medical issues may trigger some unexpected health problems.
You should avoid its usage if you are taking the following pharmaceutical drugs:
1. Lanoxin or Digoxin
Lanoxin and Digoxin are cardiac medications, so combining either of them with apple cider vinegar can be very dangerous. Specifically, ACV prevents the absorption of potassium, thus increasing the risk of undesirable side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, mood swings and dizziness.
Avoid using apple cider vinegar if you take medications for bloating, like Thalitone, Lasix, Microzidea and Diuril. They stimulate the liquid removal from the body and reduce water retention.
Taking these diuretics may lead to increased risk of dehydration, which becomes even higher if you consume apple cider vinegar at the same time.
Diabetics use insulin for balancing the levels of blood sugar. Although apple cider vinegar controls the levels of blood sugar, it must not be combined with insulin because it lowers the concentration of glucose in the blood.
You should not use ACV if you suffer from:
As mentioned earlier in the text, combining insulin with ACV decreases the levels of glucose and potassium in the body. So, if you are a diabetic, make sure you avoid this ingredient.
2. If you are pregnant or nursing
It still has not been proven whether apple cider vinegar has some negative effects on newborn babies or on developing fetuses. So, it is not recommendable for pregnant and breastfeeding women to use unpasteurized ACV.
Postmenopausal women have low bone density owing to the low levels of estrogen. Considering apple cider vinegar reduces the concentration of potassium in the body these women should avoid its intake, because it affects the bone strength.
Additionally, this may induce osteoporosis as well.
